1. What is the FCS Teacher Blog?
A blog, short for Web log, is a user-generated Web site where entries are made and displayed in order beginning with the most recent. The FCS Teacher Blog will provide a forum for teachers to exchange information, answer questions, and share ideas and other useful resources.
2. Who are members of the FCS Teacher Blog?
Membership is open to any family and consumer sciences teacher.
3. How do I join the FCS Teacher Blog?
For security and to limit the users of the blog, a password is required. Register for the blog by selecting “Register.” Create a unique username and enter your email address. The system will promptly send you a password. Login using your username and assigned password and complete your profile including the “About Yourself” section. Please include what courses you teach and at what school.
4. Can I change my password?
When you enter the blog, you have an option to “Update your profile or change your password.” Follow the prompts to create a new password.
5. What if I lose my password?
When you login on the FCS Teacher Blog home page, you can click on the “Lost your password?” option and follow the prompts to request a new password.
6. How can I enter/edit my contact information?
After you login, you have an option to “Update your profile or change your password.” Follow the prompts to create or update your profile. Once you have entered the information, be sure to select “Update Profile” at the bottom right of the page to save your changes. Please keep your contact information up to date.
7. How do I log out?
To log out of the blog, please select “Log out” in the lower right corner of the home page. For maximum security, close the Internet page before leaving your computer or going to another site.
8. How do I post comments?
After you have registered for the blog you will have the option to “write.” Login and select the tab “write” or “write a post” to write a post or entry. Once you have typed and edited your entry you may save it for later or you can publish it to the blog by selecting “Publish.” You can also select “Post a message” in the bottom right hand corner of the home page to write a post/entry.
9. Will I be contacted when something new is posted to the blog site?
We do not want the blog to be an intrusion in your busy day; therefore you will not be contacted when something new is posted on it. Please visit often to see what is new and to post your comments and share your ideas.
10. How do I comment on someone else’s post?
If you read a post and would like to specifically respond to it, click on the title of the post and a screen will come up with a box for you to enter your comment.
11. I registered, why can I not write or publish to the blog?
Initially you will only be able to make comments on someone else’s published post. The comments will be sent to the site administrator for mediation. Once you have been identified as a FCS teacher you will be able to write a post. When you login to the FCS Teacher Blog, select the option “Write a post.” This will take you to the page for entering your comment.
